Physics and Paranormal.
Can This Theory Be the Reason Why We Experience Paranormal?
Have you ever wondered why some phenomena feel beyond explanation? Why we see visions, sense presences, or experience unexplainable intuitions? Could it be that the reason lies not in superstition, but in dimensions beyond our perception — and the eternal soul that resides in them? I’ve been exploring this idea, and I may be onto something.
According to Vedic knowledge, the soul (Ātman) exists eternally and resides in higher dimensions of reality — planes of existence not part of the three spatial dimensions or the fourth dimension of time we inhabit. These are not symbolic ideas; they are real ontological dimensions, subtle realms where consciousness operates. Could it be that interactions from these higher dimensions occasionally influence our material world — and that’s what we experience as paranormal phenomena?
Vedic texts describe multiple planes or lokas, where the soul exists beyond matter and light. The Bhagavad Gita states:
“The soul is never born, nor does it ever die. It is unborn, eternal, permanent, and primeval.”
Similarly, the Katha Upanishad affirms:
“The Self is not born, nor does it die. It does not arise from anything, nor does anything arise from it.”
These texts make it clear: the soul’s invisibility is natural, because it exists in dimensions beyond the reach of our senses and instruments.
Interestingly, modern theoretical physics provides a curious parallel. String theory suggests that the universe may have 10 or 11 dimensions, most of which are hidden from our direct perception. While physics studies matter and forces in these dimensions, the Vedas describe consciousness and the soul as naturally residing in higher-dimensional realms. If subtle forces can propagate across dimensions — as some theoretical models suggest gravity might — then the soul could interact with our world without violating natural laws.
So, could our paranormal experiences — the sense of presences, intuition, or unexplained events — be manifestations of cross-dimensional interactions? Could these subtle influences be glimpses of a reality that is largely hidden from our senses but very real in Vedic understanding? Are we, perhaps, occasionally touching the edges of higher-dimensional consciousness?
Physics provides a language of possibility, showing that extra dimensions can exist. Vedic wisdom provides a language of existence, showing what truly resides in them. Together, they suggest a profound possibility: the paranormal may not be supernatural. It may be interactions between the material world and higher-dimensional planes of consciousness, where the soul resides eternally, influencing and connecting with our reality in ways we are only beginning to glimpse.
